SEND Teaching Assistant – KS1 – Stockport
Premier Education is working with a fantastic primary school in the Stockport area, seeking a dedicated and proactive SEND Teaching Assistant to support a KS1 child with complex needs. This is a long-term role starting after Easter and continuing until July, with the possibility of extension.
Role Details:
- Position: SEND Teaching Assistant (1:1 support)
- Start Date: After Easter
- Duration: Long-term (until July, potential for extension)
- Location: Stockport
- Hours: Monday – Friday, full days
- Pay Rate: From per day
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing 1:1 support to a non-verbal KS1 child with complex needs
- Engaging proactively with the child to encourage communication and interaction
- Implementing strategies to support learning, development, and well-being
- Working closely with teaching staff and SENCO to create a supportive environment
- Using alternative communication methods such as PECS or Makaton (training can be provided)
Requirements:
- Experience working with SEND pupils (essential)
- Knowledge of complex needs and non-verbal communication strategies (preferred)
- A patient, calm, and proactive approach to support
- Strong behaviour management skills
- A genuine passion for working with children with additional needs
