SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Halton

Contract: Monday - Thursdays until half term at least

Premier Education are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our lovely SEN provisions in Halton. The position is four days per week Monday - Thursday, full time hours and is to work 1-1 with a child with speech and language difficulties (SLD). They are looking for someone who is passionate about helping children with SEND thrive, and to build a good relationship with that child and the team.

About the role:

- Support child on a 1:1 basis

- Responsible for supporting the delivery of engaging activities and providing individual or group interventions

- Creating a positive and supportive classroom environment that promotes learning and personal development

- Working collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and parents/carers to ensure pupil progress

- Participation in staff meetings, CPD, and wider school life as required

Candidate requirements:

- Relevant experience and/or qualifications in a TA or SEN support role

- Experience supporting pupils across EYFS / KS1 / KS2 settings is desirable

- Strong behaviour management and classroom organisation skills

- A reflective, enthusiastic, and adaptable approach to teaching

- Must hold (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS certificate and demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)

Pay:

Key duties of the role:

 

·       To spearhead the nursery safeguarding procedure to ensure all children are kept safe, well and secure and ensure all team members are able to do the same

·       To lead a team of professional workers and to ensure high quality practice at all times

·       Overseeing the efficient upkeep and maintenance of the building and grounds, stock of equipment, furnishings and fittings

·       To plan and organise staffing schedules and holiday rotas to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained in accordance with Ofsted requirements

·       To adhere to, and support all team members to understand and follow, the legal requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage

·       To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined from time-to-time by the Proprietor

·       Liaising with Ofsted and professional bodies associated with the nursery

·       To promote the aims and objectives of the nursery

·       Supporting all team members to work in partnership with parents/carers and other family members

·       To ensure the provision of high standards of physical, personal, social and emotional care

·       To report back to the Proprietor as required with information relating to finance, quality of the provision and anything else deemed necessary

·       Being responsible for all administrative duties associated with the management of the facility, e.g. maintaining records on the children and their families, ordering equipment, maintaining an inventory, keeping personnel records

·       To provide all team members with the support and resources required for the early identification and intervention for children with possible special needs

·       To understand the requirements under the Prevent Duty and ensure it is incorporated into the setting. Make sure staff are made aware of this and any action that is required is taken promptly

·       To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children regardless of any disabilities, family backgrounds or medical history

·       To follow all relevant Acts including the Equality Act 2010, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (regulation (EU) 2016/ 679) (GDPR) that relate to staff employment and record keeping

·       To be responsible for all nursery staff, after school workers, cooks, cleaners, students and voluntary workers. Supervising and supporting all members of the nursery team in their day-to-day duties including recruitment and induction, appraisals and reviews, training and development, individual supervisions and discipline

·       Ensuring that all staff have an up-to-date enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks
